It’s that time of the year when we start to turn to warming, comforting drinks. This easy mocktail recipe has a beautiful combination of juicy pomegranate and spicy cinnamon, and even better, it’s designed to assist with a restful nights sleep.

As far as juice goes, pomegranate is one of the most superior in terms of health benefits. Not only is it packed with antioxidants, it also contains magnesium, which is linked to promoting good sleep.
Pomegranate just happens to pair perfectly with cinnamon, the second hero ingredient in this simple sip. A recent study suggest cinnamon may increase serotonin and melatonin levels, which both play a crucial role in sleep.
Balanced out with a touch of tangy lemon and a dash of honey, this flavor harmony is both delicious and functional…cheers to that!

Ingredients
- 4 oz (120 ml) pomegranate juice (choose organic if you can)
- 2 oz (60 ml) chilled cinnamon tea (from teabags, or use homemade method below)
- 1 oz (30 ml) lemon juice
- ½ oz (15 ml) honey
- Optional rim: 1 teaspoon cinnamon sugar
- Optional garnishes: cinnamon stick, star anise, pomegranate arils and/or dehydrated lemon
How to make it:
- To make the optional rim, moisten the rim of your glass with a lemon wedge.
- Gently dip the moistened rim into the cinnamon sugar and shake off any excess.
- Fill your glass halfway with ice. Add the pomegranate juice, chilled cinnamon tea, lemon juice and honey, then stir gently to combine.
- Garnish with your choice of cinnamon, star anise, pomegranate arils and/or dehydrated lemon.
To make the homemade cinnamon tea:
- Take 2 cinnamon sticks and break them into a few pieces.
- Place the broken cinnamon sticks and 1 cup of water into a saucepan.
- Heat on medium heat until just bubbling.
- Turn the heat to low and leave to simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat. You can strain immediately, to leave up to an hour for a more intense cinnamon flavor. Place in the fridge to chill.
