There’s nothing quite like sipping something warm and comforting from a mug to wind down in the evening. This Blueberry Bedtime Tea is fruity, floral, and just a little sweet, designed to help you slow down and ease into the end of a long day.
The combination of juicy blueberries and calming lavender create a beautifully balanced and calming flavor that is perfect for transitioning into rest mode. Even better, this recipe is so easy to make with minimal cleaning up and there are certainly no bartending skills required!
This recipe is made from simple, nourishing ingredients that naturally support winding down and rest. Lavender tea is widely associated with reducing stress and promoting calm. There’s even some research to suggest it may help regular stress markers like cortisol and support relaxation before sleep.
Blueberries offer a natural sweetness along with fruity flavor and antioxidants. They also pair perfectly with lavender, rounding out the floral notes and making the drink comforting and soothing to sip.
Honey is another natural sweetener that in my opinion, is a must when sweetening bedtime drink recipes. You could use maple syrup or your own choice of sweetener if you wish.
Surprisingly, warm water itself also plays an important role. Sipping something warm before bed can signal to your body that it’s time to slow down, helping to create a calming bedtime routine.

Tips
- I love using thawed blueberries in my mocktails. They are usually much more vibrant in color, and often taste better too!
- Be sure to use dried culinary lavender or lavender tea bags only. Not all lavender is suitable for human consumption and its important to make sure whatever you use hasn’t been sprayed by any nasty pesticides.
- Don’t leave the lavender tea to steep for any longer than 5 minutes. Lavender leaves are very strong, and your tea might end up tasting like expensive soap if left for too long!
Enjoy this restful sip up to 30-60 minutes before bed. Sip it while reading, journaling, or watching your favorite show…the warmth, aroma and gentle flavors all work together to create a moment of calm at the end of your day. Cheers to that!
Ingredients
- ¼ cup blueberries (fresh or thawed)
- ½ teaspoon lavender tea leaves (or 1 lavender tea bag)
- 1 cup hot water
- A squeeze of honey (about ½ teaspoon, or more to taste)
- Optional garnishes: edible lavender, citrus wheel
How to make it
Muddle the blueberries and honey in a mug or small jug until the blueberries are mashed and jammy. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes while the jug boils. Add the lavender tea to the mixture, then pour over the hot water. Leave to steep for 5 minutes, then strain into your serving mug. Taste, and add a little extra honey if you need to. Garnish and serve.
